Pull list for August 5 2015

August 4, 2015

I’m off tomorrow, so reviews as normal.

I’ll go to the store for: Age of Apocalypse #2, by Fabian Nicieza and Gerardo Sandoval; Giant-Size Little Marvel AvX #3, by Skottie Young; Ms. Marvel #17, by G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona; My Little Pony Friends Forever #19, by Christina Rice and Brenda Hickey; Siege #2, by Kieron Gillen and Filipe Andrade; The Wicked + The Divine #13, by Kieron Gillen and Tula Lotay.

I’ll also review: Future Imperfect #4, by Peter David and a lightbox; Red Skull #2, by Joshua Williamson and Luca Pizzari.

So that’s 6 comics I’m picking up, and 6 reviews. A pretty good week. Not too light, not too heavy.

I’m most excited for Ms. Marvel, Siege and Little Marvel. And AoA. And WicDiv. WicDiv finally introduces Tara (Fucking Tara!), which should be cool to see. I’m interested in learning about her. AoA got off to a great start, so I’m excited for more of that. Little Marvel is adorable. It’s Skottie Young drawing adorable versions of characters doing adorable things. It’s awesome. Siege got off to an amazing start, and only looks to get better from there. It’s got a fantastic cast and a great premise, and I just want more of it. And then Ms. Marvel has always been a brilliant book. And it’s finally happening! Marvel Team-Up! And the preview pages show that Kamala’s reaction to meeting Carol is exactly as adorable as you would expect. So, yeah, this is a great week.

My August pull list: Age of Apocalypse #2; Giant Size Little Marvel AvX #3; Ms. Marvel #17; Siege #2; Secret Love #1; 1602 Witch Hunter Angela #3; A-Force #3; Silk #6; Loki Agent of Asgard #17; Captain Marvel and the Carol Corps #3; Ghost Racers #3; Secret Wars 2099 #4; X-Tinction Agenda #3; Years of Future Past #4; Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #8. That’s my planned pull list. I don’t know if some of those have been delayed until September. There’s a couple other releases on’s calendar that I didn’t mention, because I think they’re probably delayed. Still, it’s looking like 15 Marvel comics. Give or take a couple. A little smaller than usual, but not by much. And this month does also have the release of Hopeless Savages Vol. 4, so that’ll cost me a bit.

I mentioned on Friday that I bought a new computer. I got a laptop. I’ve always used desktops, and I’m still not comfortable with a laptop. But it’s more convenient in the event that I ever actually get a new frigging job and get to move out. Of course, at this point, I’ve almost given up on that happening. But the computer. I didn’t actually use it at all Friday – I had to transfer all my files from my old computer to an external hard drive anyway, so I just kept using my old computer. But I’ve been using the laptop for a couple days now. It came with Windows 8.1, but I updated it to Windows 10. I barely used Windows 8 at all, but I can’t say I much liked the set-up. It was actually a pretty cool concept. Just not handled all that well. Windows 10 is fine. The worst part about getting a new computer is setting everything up. Getting the programs I like, setting up all my bookmarks, all that crap. That was a pain in the ass. And changing from a desktop to a laptop means I also now have to get used to that. Especially the keyboard. It’s weird typing on a flat keyboard like this. I don’t like it. Also, my Home/End/PgUp/PgDn keys are now in a less convenient spot. Another thing I dislike is the new Windows Media Player. It no longer minimizes to the toolbar, so it doesn’t pop up each new song. And my keyboard doesn’t have keys specifically for skipping songs, either. It’s a minor thing, but bleh.

My schedule for the week: Friday 4-8, Saturday 5-10:30, Tuesday 9:30-3, Wednesday 3:30-11:30. So my next pull list will go up next Wednesday, and next Wednesday’s reviews might go up Thursday. I’ll try to have posts Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

And that’s all I’ve got for this week.
